beauty.....?

you know that saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? well, that's partly true. i've noticed that extremely beautiful people are thought by everyone as beautiful, and if youre just okay-looking, then some people may think you are pretty, while some peope won't. and and everyone agrees on if someone is unattractive. so, technically, beauty mostly isn't in the eye of the beholder. know what i mean? what do you think?

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Each person on this earth has their own mind that is made up of totally different experiences and beauty beliefs, most coming from culture. It’s really hard to get everyones real opinion unless you literally took everyone on the earth sat them down and asked them the question.

EXAMPLES:
•A Barbie doll figure is the average North American standard of beauty, but if you ask someone of South American, Caribbean or African decent they’d say that a more full figured woman is beautiful.

•I think Angelina Jolie is absolutely the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life, but by boyfriend thinks she is just ok.

Even with-in the same culture you will find different levels of beauty opinions. That’s why you should always strive to be the best you that you can be and that’s only if you want to. Everyone else’s opinions’ are just that…opinions…they don’t matter unless you allow them to matter.

All in all, peoples’ opinions don’t matter. Beauty is in your eye and you create it for your world. That’s a lot more fun than waiting to be defined by others.

what it really means is that its the little things about someone that are beautifully. things that are you. like the little dimple when ya smile or the cute turn in their nose and you notice these when you know someone properly.

What are some beauty tips and what exactly is a beauty sleep?

I need some beauty tips, so any you know of, throw them in.

Also I have heard of a beauty sleep before but what is it exactly? Is it just a quick nap?

And what happens if you leave on your mascara when you go to bed?
And also about hair, I always wash cold hair after that. Is that good?

AND i need beauty tips on my face because I have pimples and I want something simple like a product or something

OK some beauty tips:
MAKEUP

never wear lip liner a shade/shades darker than your lipstick

under 30-shouldn't be wearing lip liner anyway

wiggle the brush as you apply mascara

when applying lipstick to avoid tooth stains stick your index finger in your mouth and pull out

white eyeliner on the waterline=big eyes

the perfect shade of lipstick is on the inside of your bottom lip

concealer, than foundation to set it

stick concealer for eyes

bronze can make your face look thinner etc if you do it right

penciled eyebrows- UC no offense if you have them-it depends

FACE AND SKIN, ZITS/PIMPLES

puffy under/eyes? submerge 2 teaspoons in ice water for 30 minutes or as long as you can and than place on your eyes until they loose their cool can repeat if you want, you can also place the spoons in water and then in the freezer

toner really does clean and a good one leaves it soft

tea tree oil and toothpaste are good for blemishes

thick masques usually pull the dirt out of your pores

heat up about a teaspoon of milk, then dip a small piece of bread (small or big enough to cover the zit) place it on your face and put a band aid (fabric sticks better) over it, it sucks out the dirt of some black heads and puss etc

if you can stand the heat-place a small EMPTY medicine bottle (like those small Motrin or anti nausea etc) in boiling water until hot then squeeze the air out and put it over your zit and let it suck the dirt out (it suctions to your face) [warning may cause bruising-painless but visible its like when you get one around your mug from sucking up a cup!!]

oatmeal and sugar/lemon scrubs are better than a lot of store bought stuff

don't pop zits popping=scars

avocado, coconut, olive oils etc are very softening to the skin

loofah's hold sooo much bacteria

HAIR

use a deep conditioning masque twice a week, warm it up and put it on your hair put a hair plastic shower cap on and shoot some hot air on it for 5 minutes repeat every 15 minutes for 1 hr then rinse with one batch warm water and then cold water to make it shine as cold as you can stand

lots of brushing is really bad

always protect your hair from the sun-any product that puts a barrier between your hair and the sun is good, creams and serums are better than sprays, they're thicker but if you have fine hair than use a spray so you don't weight it down less is always more when using makeup don't go to over the top unless its a Halloween party! always take a shower/bath every day to keep ur hair from getting gross and greasy, definitely use a hair dryer to dry ur hair it will look much better than natural hair dry. if u want u shuld get highlights but dont b 2 crazy so if u have brown hair dont get whtie highlights get like a lighter color of ur hair color, if u hav glasses u shuld get contacts it will really make ur face look clearer and better no offense to ppl with glasses. if u hav braces its no big deal just make sure the colors u get are some what neutral and match things u hav in ur closet, when buying makeup dont buy oil makeup and always make sure u wash ur face at night! if u want and u think u have yellow teeth try using white strips crest white strips r definetly the best!! hmm beauty sleep isnt really what it sounds like so it just means u get well rested so that u dont hav bags under ur eyes and ur face is all blotchy u shuld get a good 8-10 hours of sleep each night. if u leave mascara on when u go to bed nothing will happen u might get black powdery stuff around ur eyes but its no big deal u just wash it off in the morning! hope i helped u good luck!! :)

beauty sleep is apparently the sleep you get before midnight.

when you leave your mascara on when you go to bed, it can flake off and get it your eyes, causing corneal abrasions. it's really important to take off makeup before bed!!

drinks lots of water
take multivitamins
get 8-9 hours of sleep a night (definitely can't manage this one lol)
moisturize your face and neck EVERY SINGLE DAY. you'll be thankful when you're older.
use body lotion
never tan

For makeup, Smokey eyes . Can't go wrong with that .
For mascara, Loreal Beauty Tubes Mascara. Works really good with me, for length. But if you want thick eyelashes, use LashBlast by Covergirl.
For skin, apricot scrub .
For hair, anything that keeps it healthy, and keep yourself from damaging it . Like, straightening or curling it too much.
Keep nice, groomed eyebrows .
Always have nice smooth lips, by applying a well amount of chapstick .
Smooth out any frizziness in hair, but if you have scene-ish hair, then nvm(:
Always have nice colored nails.
Nice smooth legs . Keep them smooth & shiny !
And whatever comes to mind[x

Also, if you like curly hair: after you take a shower put in curlers overnight. But test it the day before, to make sure it comes out the way you want it to. Big curls are gorgeous.

_ If you leave mascara on , your eyes will get those raccoon eyes. And if it's water proof it probably won't smear but otherwise it still can. It could get in your eyes and scratch the cornea but most likely it won't happen. And if you sleep with mascara on ALL the time, your eyelashes can get shorter and thinner and you can lose some of them. And you can get wrinkles !

_ You can learn what beauty sleep is right here : http://beauty.ivillage.com/skinbody/facecare/0,,r11b,00.html

Hope this helps !

leaving mascara on going to bed could be a mistake because it smears and gets all over your eye. Beauty sleep is when you go to sleep early so no bags are under your eyes and you feel better because it makes a difference having 10hrs of sleep than 7 hrs. and some beauty tips i have are for small eyes use a dark bold color like bold blues yellows and pinks and you could pull off dark neutral colors to make your eyes pop for big eyes you don't need bold colors to make them pop so stick to neutral and light colors also lipstick depends on skin tones so make sure if your much darker stick to dark or baby colors if your white as snow use pinks if tan you may be able to pull off any tone i hope this tips help you-allie

1st beauty sleep is a deep sleep some go to bed with a mask on and a cold eye mask over their eyes to increase it also some wear hand and feet moisture gloves/socks and wrap themselves in body butter etc etc they call it a beauty sleep because when you sleep well, your eyes aren't baggy and dark, your revitalized and ready for the world, your body is rested and it shows its glowing of radiance because it has repaired from the sleep and can fight off harmful things-in all it makes you beautiful physically and mentally :)

2 if you leave mascara on when you go to bed, the makeup does something to your lashes its all chemicals so it wears them down i did it once i went to bed with it on and 1 it was smeared all over my pillow 2 i had raccoon eyes and 3 when i washed my lashes/face or just slid my fingers over them some came out!!!!! creepy

On the pimple thing put lotion on at night for face like face cream or acnee cream and then in the morning put the cream cover-up and then blush

suggestions Maybelline

These are all really good beauty tips, some i've never even heard of but my tip would be to get LOADS of sleep, as much as possible. 10 hours is good, for me, when i can i like to get 12 hours. Like sleeping from a digit to the same digit like go to sleep at 10 wake up at 10.
I have always had dark circles under my eyes even when sleeping for a lifetime.
-I have heard that if you suffer from Dark circles under the eyes you should try , Soaking two balls of cotton wool in some cold milk and resting them on ur eyes for about 5 mins, two times a day.

-And for puffy eyes/redness, two tea bags (preferably non-used ones) soaked in water and placed on your eyes (closed obviously) for about 5-10 mins.

Always remeber to take make-up off and contact lenses out.
Use make-up remover wipes to clean your face of make-up as it is more gentle on the skin than a flannel.
Never use soap on your face.
And dont rub at your face with a flannel or towel.

For perfect pins, exfoliate using a cream exfoliator and use lotion after shaving and before tanning.
Nevr use a sunbed as this can higher the risk of skin cancer and lower your life expectency :O not good.
If you go sunbathing or are partiale to burning always wear a sun screen to protect your skin, You have to apply a certain factor depending on your skin type. The darker your skin the lower the factor of sun cream needed and fair/ginger people need a high factor like 30f and need to apply generously and often. Babys also need higher protection like 50f and so do children, although as they grow older you can lower the factor needed.
If you burn then use an after-sun, they help reduce the burning and soothe your skin very well.
If you want to tan then fake it is the best option, you can buy loads of products in loads of shops.

Use lipscreen as well as this is a very sensitive area for burning.

What is BEAUTY and why people have different opinion on that?

Some said that beauty is a subjective matter and others said the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I really curious when most people said that Giselle Bunchen (just an example) very beautiful but for me she not that beautiful.
Is there any scientific research on this matter? I once heard that people with symmetrical face (like a mirror at the centre) is considered very beautiful.

You and me are totally examples of "beaut is in the eye of the beholder", you think Giselle is beautiful but I found her to be unattractive. I think Gemma Ward is the most beautiful. But obviously because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't think Gisele Bundchen is really THAT beautiful too lol,but i don't think anyone has truly an exact symmetrical face or you have to have a symmetrical face to be beautiful,to me its just bullsh**.

are online beauty schools as good as going to a beauty school?

Has anyone got a degree from an online beauty school, and if so, is it the same as a degree if you go to an actual beauty school. I found some online beauty schools, but I don't know if it will be worth it when it comes to finding a job. I don't know if they will look at it and think its not as good as getting a diploma from a beauty school where you actually go to. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

I cannot imagine how one could study this area of technical skill online.
This kind of work involves learning how to do things with your hands, understanding the tools, learning how the products work and feel when applied.
The only way I can see to learn this is to actually handle the stuff. Yes, there will be some theory/knowledge you could study on line. But after that, you'll have to apprentice.

I wouldn't do that online! How are you supposed to get any practice on real hair online?!?! I think employers would frown on that.

You need hands-on experience to be able to be licensed. Each state has its own requirements, but I don't believe that any state allows online training to be used toward meeting the minimum requirements for getting a license. But, I could be wrong...

Any beauty salon that is good and has reasonable price? What treatment is recommended based on my skin?

So could anyone tell me which beauty salon has a good and reasonable price? Since i am still a student, i would want to buy a package which i can afford.

The face problems i have are blackheads and pimple scars. So is there any facial treatments anyone could recommend?

why not use your local college these offer many treatments and are very cheap and also if your student you get a discount as well. These would also be able to tell you what type of treatment you need, but I would suggest a vapor facial using the correct products have a case study course and you'll see the results pretty soon. hope this helps

What tips do you have for a beginner beauty photoshoot?

I'm planning on doing a beauty photoshoot, using my new 350D camera and a couple of friends. I want to know what to use to make the faces of models well lit and to show the beauty of the make up used. I've been awestruck by Marcelo Benfield's work, and I would sure love to try something that has the same lighting properties.
Please supply any tips for beauty photography aside from lighting ones, and what are the best properties to be used for such photosessions with the camera.

If you're looking to emulate the style of this photographer, I would suggest finding one of his photographs which you like and looking into the reflection of the model's eye to determine what kind of lighting setup was used. I looked at a couple of his pictures and noticed that he frequently uses ring lights and giant softboxes, which are actually the norm for fashion photography.

If you don't have access to this equipment, a softbox (which was originally created to mimic window light) can be simulated by setting your model in front of a large window with lots of light shining through (not direct sunlight).

The idea of beauty portraits is to eliminate shadows on the face with lots of light (to mask skin defects). Again, this is most easily done with the use of a large window. You may also help the effect by using white sheets or poster boards to reflect light into your model's face. The eliminated shadows are then replaced by the strategic use of makeup to accentuate cheekbones, etc.

Referring again to Marcelo Benfield's work, you can tell that Photoshop has become a major step in the process of beauty photography. For example, http://grouper.com/video/MediaDetails.aspx?id=1687033

Regarding the camera, a large aperture is typically used with the focus set on the reflection in the model's eyes. The ears are usually out of focus as a result. Finally, this type of image is generally shot with a slightly telephoto lens (~70mm on a 35 mm camera). Using a normal or wide angle would introduce perspective into the photograph, making the nose appear too big and the ears too small.

E-mail me with your questions. I always enjoy a conversation about photography.

Like the person above me said " If you don't have access to this equipment, a softbox (which was originally created to mimic window light) can be simulated by setting your model in front of a large window with lots of light shining through (not direct sunlight).

Another idea that I also found to work is, when you flip the camera upside down, so that the flash is on the bottom. Having the flash on the top, makes the features come out very harsh and sharp, and also gives too much light on the face. However, that's not the professional way of doing it- Just something creative.
Make sure you are creative when you take pictures... don't make the person stay in the same pose but in different clothings or makeups.

What would you call a beauty school that teaches everything?

Is there a kind of beauty school that teaches everything like: hair, nails, makeup, etc or do they not have those anymore? My mom went to beauty school when she was younger and they taught her all of that.

The Science of Beauty - How important is symmetry?

I have seen documentaries on the science of beauty that claim that symmetry is of utmost importance in whether or not you are beautiful. One source points out, by way of example, that Denzel Washington is almost perfectly symmetrical while Lyle Lovett has an asymmetrical face.

My question is whether symmetrical features result in beauty or are symmetrical features a by-product of beauty? For example, even if Lyle Lovett had symmetry he would not be judged as extremely good looking. So is the axiom saying that unattractive people are by nature not symmetrical? Does an inherent correlation exist between symmetry and beauty - that you can not have one without the other - if you are symmetrical you are beautiful and that if you are unattractive you are by definition not symmetrical?

It's much less about symmetary and much more about certain ratios and facial proportions.

I think the proof that it's not about symmetary is in the fact that when you take a picture half of someone's face and reflect it so you have two symmetrical halves, it just looks strange and unnatural.

How do I start a new standard of beauty?

How do I create my own personal standard of beauty? Audrey Hepburn did it. When she first became famous in the 1950's, she was the exact opposite of the typical hollywood starlet. And yet, she became phenomenally successful and well received. How did she pioneer a new look so well? What is the difference between catchy and alienating?

Is it possible for me to start a new standard of beauty? It sounds ideal. If there were an entire standard of beauty specifically molded to me, I would be the most beautiful person on the planet!
