Ive had that haircut for a year now and i understand how frustrating it is to have to spike it everyday! If you want to have a messy kind of look on it just put hair gel on and mess it up because it will stay still. If you use wax it can move around and get messed up. It does look good, but it also depends on your hair kind.

I'm a male, i have somwhat curly hair, thick a little bit and all I do is comb back and gel. With this type of hair is it possible to get a fade cut. Like idk how to give an example, i guess a haircut similar to daddy yankee'z? Do u need a specific hairtype to get ur hair like that, or can anyone get a fade. Or is that even a fade lol. I jsut want it real short but idk if u need a specific hairtype for that?
no you dont and you can have really curly hair and still get a fade. Ask the salon lady for a 1 and for her to trim your sideburns and for her to line it up. Thats really cute!

What do I do for growing out hair that is usually fade into a longer cut/style?
I have always had a clean cut fade look. But I've been growing it out for a shaggy look. Got it trimmed a few times. And a major trimmage for prom, last month. It's not too long right now. The start of the hair scap is at one inch, then as you go up, it's two inches, then finally the area at the top is three inches. My bangs are right above my eye browl.
I hear people saying that if you're growing it out, you need to get a layer and a thinning or something? What are those, by the way?
But, ultimately, my question is: since I've always had a fade, do I need to get my hair adjusted in anyway or something? Or do I just let it grow out to a certain lenght before getting layers and thinning? If so, what lenght?

For men what is the best way to cut your own hair and get a "fade" look?
I have been cutting my own hair for a couple of years but have never been trained. As a result I often get inconsistent results. I use a number one clip on the side and a four on top and was wondering what method to employ to be more consistent in receiving a "fade" where the hair fades from a number one on the side to a number four on top.
it is hard to do yourself. You really need to use a clipper over comb technique to "fade" the number one guard area into the number 4 guard area. To do this you hold the comb at an angle and run the clippers over it. You will need a good mirror, actually a few of them so you can see what you are doing. Plus, remember, everything will look backwards in the mirror. Make sure you have the comb at the right angle and blending between the lengths before you run the clippers across them.
