The Top Ten Gross Things Flight Attendants Have Seen Passengers Do on Airplanes Jaunted

A flight attendant career is glamorous! Or so I thought! I admit, I signed up for the glamour eighteen years ago, but I quickly learned that most of the glamor was gone from this industry. I was on my second trip as a new hire flight attendant, my uniform was crisp, my hair was pulled back in a perfect french twist to match my beautiful french manicure, and I had all the right accessories.

This particular day I was the aisle flight attendant when a passenger asked me if I would heat up a baby bottle. I knew just what to do! Now all I needed was a sick bag so I could fill it with hot water. I reached into a seat back pocket, grabbed a sick bag and pushed my hand inside to open it up. Feeling the still warm, oatmeal consistency on my hand is where the glamor ended for me. Yes folks, I had just stuck my manicured hands into fresh vomit !

You've heard about the gross things people do on airplanes. There's classics like cutting toenails, walking

French Manicure?

I can never get the white tips straight when I do an at-home french manicure. Any suggestions?

Try masking tape! Seriously, let the top coat dry well so it doesn't get tacky, but masking tape will peel off easily and you'll get that straight line! Don't forget the coat over that one :)

go to a nail shop in a mall or somthin? have someonelse do it for u

use a cheap eyeshadow brush. dip it in nail polish remover and shape the white part by cleaning excess mess ups off.

Get some tape and put it on there so that only the part you want white is exposed, then paint.

paint like the whole tip white (like a lot) then use a Q-tip with nail polish remover to go underneath (farther down oin ur nail) to clean it up this way u can have it as thick as u want!

go to a nail salon and get them to paint them or get a stencil and do it that way. =)

try using those little sticky guides you can get at the drug store. I find that using a tiny nail brush works best though, and honestly all you can do is practice.

put tape over the top part of your nails first, paint over it and pull the tape off before it dries [so it won't peel off] & be careful so it wont smudge

use tape

You should put a thin strip of tape at the tip of your nail to keep the nail polish fromg going all over the place .

Wait till paint dries, then remove the tape.

And there .
;]

get a paint brush like the ones they have at the nail place, put the polish on and it doesn't have to be perfect, pour polish remover into the cap of the bottle and dip the brush in it, carefully remove the polish by sliding the brush across the nail. it'll look really good

do the white tips before you put the top coat. try not to make it too thick at once. then with a thin makeup brush put a little acetone on it and clean up the line. IF it's easier for you - use stickers like the painting tape...it'l give you a boundary.

Yep -- masking tape. Cut an inch-long piece into ten or twelve skinny strips (twelve twelve in case you waste a couple) and place them along where you want the white polish to stop.

Apply polish as normal, and remove the tape while it's still wet so you don't leave a little ridge. Then when the ends are dry finish with your top coat.

Never fails.

I'd go to a nail place and have a professional do it. Otherwise it's really hard and easy to mess up.

When you put them on don't hold your fingers straight out, bend them into your palms and put them on that way. Hard to explain in writing

Draw the white tip line with the finger nail polish, then get about a cenimeter wide paint brush and dip it in nail polish remover, then go under the white tip with it to make it strait.

How do people do French Manicure at home?

How do people do french manicure at home and i mean the ones with the white tips, I want to know because i dont want to always pay to do my nails and when i try using white nailpolish on my nail tips they always smedge or somthing. Is there any ways i can do french manicure without skrewing it up at, other than geting them done?

Getting a Perfect 10

If you're never quite happy with your at-home manicure, don't blame your skills with the brush. The condition of your nails and cuticles makes all the difference. The most common manicure mistakes to avoid are:

Mistake 1:

Filing nails in the wrong direction. Sawing back and forth with your emery board and going too deep into the corners can split and weaken nails. The fix: Holding a fine emery board at a slight angle to the nail, file from left corner to center for a few strokes, then from right corner to center. Smooth with a fine metal file.

Mistake 2:

Neglecting cuticles. Rough, ragged cuticles can lead to painful hangnails. The fix: Brush cuticles with a rich oil after your morning shower and before bed. Let oil soak in for a minute or two, then rub into cuticle. "Oil penetrates better than hand cream," says Viner.

Mistake 3:

Cutting cuticles. Nipping away at your cuticles invites the risk of infection. (Your cuticles act as a barrier against bacteria.) The fix: In the shower, gently push back cuticles with a washcloth (the steamy water helps soften them).

Mistake 4:

Skipping base coat. Polish on bare nails can dry out the nail plate; and without a base coat, dark shades can stain nails or leave them yellow. The fix: Brush a moisturizing base coat on clean, dry nails; let the base coat dry for a few seconds before applying polish.

Mistake 5:

Leaving polish on too long. This, as well as too many layers of polish, dehydrates nails. And once polish begins to chip, it can peel away a superficial layer of the nail, too. The fix: Remove polish after five days; wash hands to rinse away remover, which can also be drying.

Do-It-Yourself Nails
8 tips for a flawless manicure.

Tip 1:

Check your polish. Old polish can become clumpy and thick, causing uneven application and bubbles. If your polish has become thick, add a few drops of polish thinner to the bottle and shake well. (Note: Don't use nail polish remover to do this!) Or treat yourself to a new bottle.

Tip 2:

Start with clean nails. If yours have traces of lotion or cuticle oil on them, polish won't stick evenly and will chip more readily. Use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol or nail polish remover to clean the surface of nails before you paint.

Tip 3:

Begin with a base coat. A base coat smoothes out nail ridges, and allows polish to go on more evenly. A base coat also protects nails from becoming stained when you wear dark polish.

Tip 4:

Watch your brush. As you remove your brush from the bottle, carefully wipe one side of the brush along the bottle's neck. This removes excess, bubble-producing nailcolor.

Tip 5:

Apply in minimal sweeps. Apply color from cuticles to tips in three swipes: One in the middle, and one on either side of the nail. You may need to use more strokes, but keep in mind that the fewer sweeps of color, the more even the result.

Tip 6:

Clean up as you go. It's inevitable that you'll wind up with some polish on the skin around your nails. Use a wooden nail stick to quickly swipe away the excess as you go.

Tip 7:

Finish it off with a top coat. A top coat seals the polish onto your nails and gives a high-shine finish (which can camouflage streaks or small bubbles).

Tip 8:

Allow ample drying time. Set aside at least an hour of hands-off time for nails to dry. And remember that while they may feel dry to the touch after that time, nails can still be tacky and more prone to nicking for a few hours afterward.

Tried it once but hey it's better to leave it to the professionals.

There are kits that you can by. Avon has a nice one.
Good luck

first you buy the little nail polish bottle the Chinese people be using and just draw a straight line across your toes or nail u can also use any color but remember to take your time and use clear polish for the shine

Try the Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit.

ok well i know of two simple ways: (1)white out right on the tip then with a clear nail polish coat nails with, i would say 3 coats. (2)or you can get tape and stick it every where on your nail except where you want the tip then get the white nail polish and paint the area uncovered then onced they are dry then coat them with clear nail polish about 3 coats

yes, buy a Kit!

they come with little stickers that mark the shape and limit to paint the white part and when it's dry you remove it and paint on top the pink part or whatever.

Walmart has a french manicure kit that already has the tips painted.

the Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit is great for french manicures at home. give it a try, cause its kind of hard to screw up wit this kit.

good luck (:

You should try Salley Hansen French Manicure Kit, it's great and it cost like 5 bucks.

ok do what ever color you want frist then get a toothpick and with white dab on the white in the line you want then just fill in to the end of the nail

For the white tip, you need to put a piece of paper right at the tip of your nail, just below where you are putting the nail polish and then apply the nail polish. This way, it will not get all over.

Get a white nail pen and draw a white line on the tip of every fingernail! it looks good! I do it all of the time! Then when it dries, paint over the whole nail with clear polish so the nail it shiny and the white part stays on longer!! Have fun!

i do it at home sometimes really easy. sometimes i do em at the salon. put on a coat of base top. then put white polish on the tips of your nails do that to all your nails and then go back over it again. then get some acetone and a clean paintbrush. put some acetone in a little bowl. dip the paintbrush in the bowl and move your paintbrush under the white strip make straight tips on your nails. when your done put some top coat over it.

i tried and the kits are a piece of crap

They have kits that show you how to do them perfectly and they give you the special supplies with it you should find it in a beauty supply stores, and sometimes in Eckerd. If you hot further questions please feel free to email me.

i saw one at wal mart the other day. it was like a french manicure nail pen. it came with stencils to outline the tip. It was only 8 or 9 $.Hope i helped!

I grow my nails out...then go buy the manicure paint set from Wal mart...everyone always ask me where did you get your nails done...in the kit it has step by step instructions on how to use it.

Does an airbrushed french manicure last longer than hand painted?

I've gotten a hand painted french manicure before but it always chips on the first or second day. Will it last longer if I get it airbrushed on, or is it exactly the same? I disagree with people who say that a french manicure lasts just as long as a solid color. I have no idea why, but the white portion is very fragile. How can I get a long lasting french manicure, without keeping the tackier looking permanent french I have right now?

airbrush definantly last longer!

yup

Put a top coat on it!

How can I do a good french manicure by myself and make it look good?

I have done french manicures on myself all the time. But everytime I do it, the white tip is always uneven and sloppy. How can I get a professional looking manicure without going to the salon?

At beauty stores they have french manicure stickers that you put on your nail before you put the white on. It is foolproof.

umm do as i do... professional salon hun. get a good one. runs at only about 300$

get the sally hansen (1.46$) nail whitener. Its a crayon tht you put under your nails. Finish it off with some fast drying clear nail polish, i do it all the time and it looks fabulous

You can go to a salon and get it done (if you just want paint) for about $8. Otherwise, you can buy sticky things that you put on your nails, which leave a finished edge.

you can get french manicure kit-thingies at your local rite-aid/cvs/walgreens/whatever! they are probably no more than seven bucks a pack. basically, they're little rounded pieces of tape that you put on your fingers for a better finish.

When I don't have the time or money to really go to the salon I buy this kit from CVS that has little strips in it and it makes the manicure perfect. It comes with both colors and the little strips. They REALLY help.

use tape

Hi omg... First file and shape your nails. Second = wash your hands. Then paint the tips, on one hand, with a good white opaque nail polish. The put some nail polish remover in the cap and get a small brush that has short, stiff bristles but not long. Then, upside down, dip the brush into the remover and brush away the "bad" part of the white, while you are shaping it to the desired size of tip you want. Continue the same on all you nails and then polish one or two coats of a sheer color like pink or beige for french manicures. Hope this helps and go slow. Happy painting :D

Wow! See I don't think that's possible. When doing a task like that you need some assistance. But none said professional. Don't you know anyone who can help you. If Yes, how about you try style guides. Well I have to go! Choa!!!

Put your finger on the table, and keep the brush still but twist your finger to the side so the tip gets evenly coated. The brush doesn't move and you have greater control and can do a straighter line. Use 2 good pink base coats and then 2 good clear coats on top, and paint underneith the finger nail aswell.

how much does a french manicure with a design on the ring fingers cost?

i have never gotten my nails done before. and im going for the first time tomorrow. i want to know how much money to bring with me. & whats the diff. between a manicure and a french manicure?

$50

about 15-20 dollars is the average amount, it depends where you go.

A french manicure thhey put white tips on your finger! And I don't know the cost I do mine myself!

the difference between a manicure and a French manicure is this........a name .....
A French manicure usually refers to a polish style......pink and white polish

A manicure is a procedure ....such as filing nails, soaking nails.....ect....

as for the money.....you should call and ask as all Salons have different prices

What is the procedure of getting a French manicure and pedicure at a salon?

What is the procedure of getting a French manicure? For a pedicure? Tell me all the steps? Can you get a design on top of the French mani/pedi? Can the people just paint on the top of your nails or what can they do? Thank you so much for answering. Bye.

alright u obviously know nothing about a french manicure! but its ok...
for a pedicure they clean ur toes/feet blah blah blah
then they paint the white tip part first w/ a very thin brush then they paint over your whole nail w/ a nude color. then they put the top coat
for a manicure if you aren't getting tips (fake nails that are only on the top of ur nail) then they do the same thing as a pedicure
if u r getting tips then they glue these fake nails to the top of ur nails then cute them down to look natural then they paint your them white and paint the rest of your nail nude
most places will allow you to get a design on top

Clear base coat, then a Summer pink color, then a white line across the tip of you rail. then a top coat

Comes with massage, soak, filing, painting(base coat, mid, and top coat) and yes you can ask for any addit'l designs you want. Usually costs extra though.

How can I achieve a easy french manicure look without spending alot of money?

I usually use white nail polish and then a peach color top coat but it takes alot of time and usually chips like, 5 minutes after I paint my nails. I don't want to get acrillycs because I have natural long healthy nails. How can I make my nails look better and/or do the french manicure thing without spending a ton time or money?

You could just go pay to have your nails painted. It's usually like 10 dollars. And for some reason, the way they paint it lasts much longer than what I can ever paint. Lol! The airbrush technique seems to last pretty long and is usually a dollar or so more to get done. There are those kits you can buy in Wal-Mart as mentioned by someone above but once again that's very time consuming. The best way to paint them is to do a base (clear) coat, then the white tips and then the pink/peach for the top of the nail and go over the whole nail with a top coat or two. Make sure you let each layer dry adequately. It will usually last you about a week or so.

French Manicures chip very easily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well they have this Sally`s french maicure kit! Its pretty easy to use! Ive done both my hands and toes with it. It has these stickers in it, you place them on your nail and just paint above it..theres no way you can mess up.

http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?product=79

I know people who get a white eyeliner and color in under their nails. It makes the tips of your nails looks whiter, but there is no paint. I think that can smudge and chip too, but it's much easier and faster to touch up.

I like to just file and buff my natural nails so they're shiny.

okay you buy a Sally Hansen's french manicure kit. and a bottle of a topcoat clear sealer. the kit is really easy to use it comes with stickers to where you want the line of white to be and you paint over it. it's that easy.
and when your done with the manicure part. let your nails dry for about 5-10 minutes and then put a topcoat on over it. it'll keep them from chipping and make them look shiny.
hopefully i have helped!

I do french nails on my toes my self and they never chip I only use the one brand and its called manicare, my finger nails have natural white tips they just grow like that. My friends all ask how I get them to grow like that and I told them I just love milk and 1 of my friends tried it for a month and she got natural white tips on her finger nails and they never broke or chipped.
but it shouldnt take you that long to do the french nails yourself. You should go across the nail only once to get the true looking affect, and then down and up with the peach/pink colour starting from the middle of the finger.
Hope that helped

i dont do classic french, but i like having pink tips with peach base. which is something done like french.
what i did was to paint on the peach base, then pink tip, and a clear top coat. with a top coat, it will chip less easily.

What color nail polish besides, a french manicure, goes with a blue dress.?

I am wearing a blue dress to my friends sweet 16 and it is dark-ish blue. I was wondering what color nailpolish i should wear? My friend suggested white, i dont want to use a light pink or anything like a french manicure, any suggestions?

I actually like the look of a champagne-y color with any blue. Most people think that you should wear silver, but it can look too matchy-matchy in my opinion. A light shimmery beige will look amazing with your dress, and you can still wear whatever color accessories you want.

How Can I make my French Manicure last for a while?

I just got a french manicure on my natural nails today. I was wondering if anybody knows of anyways to make them last for a pretty good while. Or how long they typically last. Thanks guys!

Gosh...my french manicure on my toes has lasted a surprisingly long time...over a week now. But I think that's mainly because it's been a little cold and I've had to wear socks all the time.

On the other hand, my nails started chipping the second day :( I think that wouldn't have happened if I didn't do so many things that used my hands.

So my suggestion for you would be to not do any kind of activity that involves anything possibly chipping away your nail polish...ie: typing (use the back end of a pen instead! lol), dishes w/o gloves, scrubbing, etc.

What is the difference between regular manicure and french manicure?

I noticed different prices when I went to the nail salon the other day, Regular manicure - $15, French Manicure add $17.. what is a regular manicure? I'm new to the whole going to get the nails done thing, so I'm not sure what the difference is..

Also - what does it mean when they say you need your nails 'filled' in 2-4 weeks?

Regular Manicure and French Manicure is the same. The only differences is French Manicure you will have French Polish. Which is white tips and a coat of beige or light pink or clear over. Making it look like natural clean nails. Regular Manicure you have a choice of nail polish colours or nothing.

If your having acrylic, you will need to come bak 2-4 weeks. They apply a tip on your nails to extend the length, using acrylic powder and put a coat over to create a natural looking long nail. During 2-4 weeks time. Your nails will be growing and will be pushing this out, which cause a lil gap close to your cuticles, which will look not that nice, so you have to come back to get that section filled.
