For Sale in ... Panama New York Times

Set on the shores of the lake in Las Cumbres, a wooded area 12 miles northwest of Panama City, this 1,000-square-meter (10,764-square-foot) home was built in 1999. The brick-and-concrete structure has three stories and an open-air sitting area with a roof; there is also an outbuilding on the property.

The entrance to the main house is on the second floor, which has an entry hall with a glass elevator. The open kitchen is on this level, with glass-and-wood cabinets, blue tiled countertops and a built-in breakfast table made of concrete and brick. The open living and dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a wooden balcony. There is a half bath off the living room and a laundry room off the kitchen.

Upstairs the master suite has lake views, two offices, a Jacuzzi with a skylight above it, a walk-in closet and an en-suite bath. A tiled terrace is off the bedroom.

What temperature to keep Jacuzzi during winter when not in use?

I am leaving for a vacation and do not know what temperature to leave my Jacuzzi in while gone. It's in Tahoe (Nevada) where it's cold anyway and I do not want to waste too much energy nor to have it freezing when I come back. I do not know what temperature to leave it in.
I am not sure how long the vacation will be. Maybe about two weeks or a month, something like that.

I would turn it off entirely. There is no way it will freeze at this time of year. I'd bet it will still be above 50 degrees when you return a month from now. The temperature in the daytime in Tahoe averages above 50 degrees this time of year. It doesn't get cold enough at night to freeze an insulated body of water such as your hot tub. Bon voyage.

Anything above 32 will keep it from freezing, turn down to about 50 should be fine.

Maybe it is time for that cleaning you have been putting off. Turn it off and drain it. No power usage. No frozen water no matter what.

How to thoroughly clean a jacuzzi?

Hi,
My jacuzzi is working well, but I noticed a small section with a black substance growing on a horizontal surface under the water. I have drained the jacuzzi (except for a few hoses I can't reach easily) and cleaned all the surfaces with bleach. I also poured clean bleach water down the filter area after removing the filter. When I refill it I will put in a new filter. Do you have any other suggestions on what I would need to do before refilling it?

This is the cheapest place on the web that I've found for pool chemicals. They carry spa chems too. Sounds like algae to me.

How to clean jacuzzi tub on a septic system?

We just bought a new house and we love it but the jacuzzi tub jets (I am assuming) send gunk out in the water when used. I thought about bleach but bleach is not safe for septic systems. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

What nonsense. Just use the bleach.

Bleach is not safe for sepic? What does the wife use when doing the laundry. Bleach. A lot of bleach is not good for the septic, gallons and gallons of the stuff. Smaller amounts are then mixed in with the septic tank waters 600-800 gallons so it is really dispersed. Follow up in a week with some Septonic(got at a grocery store down where the cleaners are)is(more septic tank bugs) to reinforce the action of the bugs that are still alive in there. No probs.

Fill the tub with warm water. Add 1/2 cup bleach. Run for 10 -15 mins. Drain and refill with warm water run for 10 mins. Drain refill the tub with water add 2 tbs dishwasher detergent. Run 10-15 mins. Drain. Refill tub with warm water, run for 15 mins. Drain. Refill tub one more time run 10 mins. This should clear out that black gunk.
If you still have the black gunk coming out you may have to repeat this process. I know it sounds like a lot of work but well worth the effort.
Good luck

just to be on the safe side, I'd call a septic cleaning company and see what they suggest. no need to have a huge bill b/c you had to call them out to fix the septic tank!! sounds like something is in the tubes--maybe even call around to jacuzzi/whirlpool retailers and see what they suggest.

Try "Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide". It is far more friendly to the environment over-all than bleach. Purchase quite reasonably from garden centers in larger amounts (like gals.). Can be used for many different cleaning tasks as well as watering (oxygenating) plants. MUST be diluted carefully - it will burn your skin at full strength. Other tasks include: brushing your teeth, purifying water, whitening & brightening laundry... lots more. I think it might be what the mfg'rs. use in products that say "oxi" in their name. Do a search "uses for food grade hydrogen peroxide" - lots of good info - has been used for cleaning ponds & pools before with good results.

I use bleach to clean my jacuzzi all the time. bleach will not hurt the septic system when used in moderation. fill the tub with hot water add 1/2 cup of bleach let it sit for about 30 minutes that will clean the jets.. You may have to repeat the procedure twice.

Try a solution of baking soda in water. run it thru your tub jets. this should loosen and clean out the system and not harm your septic tank. for a tub, you may have to use a box of it, but it will work. good luck and enjoy you jacuzzi

try using baking soda,,,cleans disinfects and leaves the tub very clean and its safe

How do you fix a superficial burn on a jacuzzi?

Is there some kind of paint or something to cover a jacuzzi burn. I left a insent burning near my jacuzzi and it made a small brown burn spot, how stupid of me. Does anyone know some thing to fix it. It`s a white jacuzzi.

Try regular car wax first and rub easy. If that doesn't work try rubbing compound but be careful and check after every few seconds of rubbing it as you could go past the discoloring. You can get the compound from a local auto parts store.

You may have to sand it down to get the burn spot out. Then apply some good car paste wax and buff it out to a shine.

How do you clean jacuzzi jets in your tub?

I just bought my first home and loved the fact that it has a jacuzzi tub. The problem is that the jets are gross!! I've used lime away and bleach and they look a lot cleaner. My concern is that there's still stuff back in there that might come out if I try to use it! (gross!!)

Help!!

had the same situation. what i did was fill the tub with water and diluted a whole bottle of zonrox (or any liquid disinfectant) and i ran the jacuzzi for 30 minutes and all the grime and dirt just spurted out.

Can you run some kind of anti bacterial solution thru the whole system??

oxyclean

good old bleach and water. kills bacterial unclogs (if the clogged isn't too bad)

Use sterilising tablets or dishwasher tablets, fill the bath over the holes with hot water, dissolve the tablets and leave over night, then turn on jets.

fill the tub at least one inch over the jets, add lots of bleach or chlorine ( pool supply) at let the jets run for at least 2 hours.

Fill the tub and turn the heater on, add five gallons bleach. Let run. The mold will die.

Where can I get a jacuzzi type tub without the jets?

I think it's called "soaker" tub. I want a big beautiful looking tub without the hassle and maintenance of a jacuzzi system.

"Garden Tub" is the name you're looking for. Typically it applies to any oversized bath tub.

All of the typical home supply stores carry these tubs, or can order them. Another source is a mobile home supplier. Garden tubs are very popular items in modular homes, and they are easy to install.

Have Fun.

You can order them from any hardware store like Home Depot.

It depends on where you live. You might try looking on the internet or get ahold of a plumber.

Any ideas on how to make a homemade jacuzzi cover that is durable and not too heavy?

Our jacuzzi is outside and gets direct sunlight 3/4 of the day. The covers you buy at stores last about 5 years and are cheaply made with foam. Our jacuzzi is surrounded by a deck. The only idea we have is 1/4" plywood that is stained. We thought about something with pvc piping etc., but cannot come up with a crafty idea. Any suggestions will help. Thank you.

I would get the plywood and cover it with vinyl material. You can go to any fabric/sewing store or even wal mart to get it. That way it looks nice and the vinyl will repel rain. It's cheap and easy. We covered our chairs with it and they came out really nice! Good luck!

What hotel has the cleanest jacuzzi tub at the best rate that is located inside you're room?

I also want to know if the water is already in the tub are do you run it? This is the first time I've ever did this and I'm doing it for my birthday next month I just want a Jacuzzi In an hotel room lit with candles and slow jams playing and just relax. OH I'm in Dallas.

Typically, the in-room "jetted tubs" (can't call them Jacuzzi tubs unless they are actually made by Jacuzzi Co.). are just oversized bathtubs with jets.

They won't have the water already in them, as they're not like the hot tubs you find by pools at a lot of hotels (where the water is treated with chlorine, etc.).

So -- there are some hotels in the Dallas area that have rooms with jetted tubs:

Sterling Hotel

Lockheart Gables B&B

Radisson (Fort Worth/Fossil Creek)

Best Western NE

MD Resort B&B

Scottish Inn & Suites (Haltom City)

Be sure, before you book, that the room description says "jetted tub".

Good luck, hope that helps!

How do I clean my foot jacuzzi if my sink water is hard water?

I just bought a foot jacuzzi (like to put feet in before a pedicure). The directions clearly say that cleaning with hard water will clog up the jets with the deposits that hard water has. If I boil up the hard water will that eliminate the deposits or am I going to have to buy bottled water just to wash this thing? What are my choices?

Thanks for your help!

No, just use white vinegar. It will dissolve any mineral desposits in the jets and sanitize it. If you decide to buy water, bottled won't do it either, you have to buy distilled. But, I have found running vinegar through it does the trick and you can dilute it 50-50 with water, a gallon bottle of vinegar is only 99 cents and you can even reuse the vinegar to clear your drains.

Is it a good idea to get a jacuzzi in your bathroom?

I have heard that maintaining & cleaning a jacuzzi is not easy and bacteria tends to grow in the pipes/jets which is a health hazard. We are building a house and I need advice as to whether we should put a jacuzzi in the master bathroom. I think we would be using the jacuzzi about once a month or so (maximum).

Is it painful to maintain a jacuzzi? Anybody with experience?

Thanks!

I have not used one so take what I say with that in mind.

A plumber told us the thing would drain the hot water tank and the water would not stay warm long. We decided to spend the money on a nice hot tub instead. It stays hot all the time and the jet action is like a jacuzzi on steroids. You don't worry about bacteria because you keep the water treated. It's always ready when you are. You can get more than one person in your tub (wink, wink).

It's a personal choice. Just thought I'd offer the suggestion.
