Nail salon?

I have never been to a NAIL salon.
I have been to hair salons and stuff but I have never gotten my nails done.
I want to go get acrylics tonight and I want the tips to be checkred.
Can someone explain to me what will happen.
Like when you get acrylics what do they do?
Like clean your nails, choose a design etc.

Thanks<3

for the first two comments wow you both are going to NON STANDARD SALONS if that's the treatment you are getting....i'm a licensed nail tech and those descriptions you both gave are soooooo incorrect i would highly suggest you both get new nail techs.....

first your nails will be buffed and your cuticles pushed back, tips will be glued to the free edge of your nail and then clipped to the correct length, then the tip will be bleneded with your natural nail, then the nail dust will be removed and your nail beds dehydrated... the acrylic is then applied once complete they will be filled for shape and then base coat, polish and or designed how you want.........

they're going to file down your nail, and then sand paper it sort of speak, and then glue, the white top part on, and fill the rest with acrilic paste stuff.

you'll have to explain to them how you want the checkered,
maybe bring in a picture, usually they don't speak good english.

:]

and when you want to get them off, have them do it.
its much better for your nail.

They will clip your real nails and then they will push back your cuticles and then they will start doing your fake nails. They will use this sm machine to smooth your nails down a bit.You have to tell them what length you want short or med or long.Explain to them what design you want, you have to pay extra for designs. It does not hurt.I get mine done all the time.Good Luck

Make sure they are a good salon. They should have all their equipment soaking in sterilizing solution so you don't get a fungus. They will rough up your natural nails with an emery board, then put some chemicals on and glue on nail tips, then add the acrylic, file and smooth, then you wash and they polish. If you aren't planning to keep them up don't bother putting them on because they screw up your natural nails. You can just go get a manicure and have them polish your natural nails.

Can a nail salon mess up or make your fill in turn out JUST OK? Do other nail salons do it better?

OR is a fill in just a fill in and theres nothing to it? I want to get my nails done somewhere else, but I am not sure if thy will do it as good as my normal nail salon. Thanks!
My normal nail salon is rather expensive and im short on cash due to the holidays so im trying to save a lil money, thats all.

You can go to a different salon for you fill in, but keep in mind that they might use a different powder. Your nails might be two different shades. There is no way to know what nail salon does nails better until you actually get them done there. Trial and error.

go 2 Rsalon

OMG i had the worst fill done at some place i had never gone to before...i alwasy go to the same place but i really needed a fill because i had to go to a wedding...well they left my nails looking worse...seriously stick with your normal place...

what?

whatever you mean just go try somewhere else.

Sometimes they have different color acrylic.... That would be one of the problems. But if your happy with your nail salon now why change?

most of the time nail salons do nails about the same quality.... some are a little better than others but its not a BIG difference.... most of the time the big difference is the price.... but dont worry, get your nails done from where ever you want... it doesnt hurt to try something new

How do I find a clean nail salon or spa in my area?

I am wondering what's the best way to search for a cleal nail salon or spa. I have just recently gotton over a fungal nail infection that i believe is the result of unsanitary practices(not cleaning the equiptment) in a salon. After taking the medication it takes about 6-8 months for a nail to grow. As you can imagine I want to take all possible steps to avoid this again.

To minimize the risk of another infection, You can check with the state board of cosmetology to see if there are any complaints against an establishment. You may also check with the Better Business Bureau. Often you can run these checks online. To insure you're safe, make sure your salon follows the following procedures and inspect everything prior to your service. Here are a few safe guards that can help you in the future. Prior to your visit go to the salon and briefly meet the nail tech and ask questions about safety and sanitation. They should have all implements kept in a proper sanitation solution. Clean equipment should be kept separate from used equipment and should not just taken out of a drawer. Ask if you can supply your own equipment if they do not have disposable single use equipment. Observe how they clean the pedicure chairs between uses. It should not be just a wipe out with a spray. The disinfectant must be run through the jet system.

In addition, Review the following key points:

As previously discussed, bring Your Own Tools to the Salon. It is a Spavelous idea to purchase your own nail tools, both steel instruments (make sure that you keep them clean and sanitized) and non-metal tools like pedi stones and pedi files.

Have your cuticles pushed back not cut. Your cuticles naturally protect your nail bed from bacteria. It is best that cuticles are pushed back with an orange stick with its tip covered in a piece of cotton. Orange Sticks should be disposed of after each use. They should not be sharpened and used on another guest.

Do not allow credo blades, razors, callus graters and cuticle cutters to be used during a visit. These implements can cut skin allowing bacteria to enter.

Inspect the Salon. Look around the salon. If there are signs of lack of cleanliness like dust, debris or nail clippings on the floor ,that's a warning sign that cleanliness is not important to them. Check for the salon's license, which should be posted on the wall along with the technician's licenses.

Inspect Sterilization Techniques. Many salons use UV sterilizers, they are a small white electrical box with a lamp inside, to sterilize tools. These do not kill bacteria. The best way to sterilize tools is with an autoclave or disinfectant labeled "tuberculocidal." Disinfectant is the turquoise-colored water in glasses . They should have these at every station and put metal implements in it between use. If you're really concerned about sterilization, ask to see the bottle the disinfectant comes in and make sure it's properly labeled. To locate spas in your area check www.spavelous.com

go look around ask questions on things 2 prevent fungus and how they do there things ;] =]]

Word of mouth is one of your best bets. Also, it depends where you live, big cities usually have internet resources. Try googling "salon reviews" and your city to see what you can find. I believe that CitySearch also has a section that has reviews on salons and spas.

Good luck!

Maybe just by asking before the service.

Autoclave can help after hour but not during quick change in service because of time consumption while tuberculocidal bleach is range at least 10 minutes to kill bloodborn and pathogen bacteria.

Germicide ultraviolet light, purple color, can destroy DNA of virus as fast as within .25-10 seconds depending on power of rays output, but it maybe require a qualified engineer service to inspect the output effectiveness of UV lights on routine. Sensors and inspection microsope are a must.

Hot glass beads sterilizers with 217-250C are also simple but sure device to eliminate microorganism and convenient for small tools with quick change in service.

Good luck.

How to attract more customers to my nail salon?

I will be opening up my first nail salon and want serious suggestions on how to advertise and attract customers to my salon. Starting out, it will be just myself doing nails and sellilng my natural skin care products.

i know here locally, you can get ads placed on the back of peoples reciepts at the grocery store. you can place signs out (get permission first), along the street. Place a big flashing sign outside the shop. here there are plenty of places that can help small businesses get started. they offer free small time advertising on websites etc. make flyers, hang them up at colleges, high schools, gyms, or wherever you can. Get up a good gimmic for the first week you are open, or something similar. Offer two for one or discount stuff to bring people in. And the best advertising of all..word of mouth..have your family and friends tell everyone they know!

Here are some ideas for you.
1. Leaflets through peoples doors.
2. Adverts in shop windows
3. Make your advising stand out from the crowd
4. Price sensibly not too high not too low
5.have specal offers now and again

Advertise the unique features of your salon.

offer some promotions

Er... don't spend too much on advertising when you are just starting out.... spend more time focusing on your customers, keep them happy ... keep cost low.... maybe give a discount coupon your customer's next visit ....

Good luck with ur business! You could hand out leaflets with two for one offers on manicures so that people bring a friend and you'll get twice as many new customers that may return again and again :o)

How much is the start up cost to open a nail salon?

I am thinking about opening a nail salon and wanted to know how much would the start up cost be! Nail supplies and all!

Too much! Call your Better Business Bureau for some help

I knew this one place where you can buy 75 bottles of different colored nail polish for 20 dollars!

Nashville nail salon with ceiling that is painted to look like the sky?

Attention Nashville ladies (or men). I visited Nashville last year and I am looking for the name of the nail salon that has a ceiling that has clouds painted on it. I cannot remember the name of the salon but it is on a main road past a Starbucks I think.

Venetian?

What is the best appointment software for nail salon?

I want to manage my nail salon appointment schedule and money , can someone please recommend me a software best for a salon?

SalonTouch is good, user-freindly - We use it for our tanning salon, but I think they also have different versions. Check them out!

What are my chances of catching something from the nail salon?

Today when I was getting a fill at the nail salon - the guy drilled me and it bled. He sprayed it with alcohol and it is now bandaged, I know there are tons of things you can catch - but what are the chances that I really did get something? I am all freaked out now.

Not very high
The alchohol killed all bacteria on the puncture the bandage is keeping them out.
Also Nail solons Tattoo parlors, places that perform peircings
must sterilize there tools before each new client

How do I give my solar nails their shine back without going back to the nail salon?

I just got them done two days ago, and it seems like they are dull and scratched already. is there any quick and easy way I can get them glossy again without going back to the nail salon? And what exactly do I need?

professionally speaking if they are dull already then to me it doesnt sound like the tech put a top coat on your nails...sounds like they just buffed them to a high shine.... if you want that shiney look then i would suggest getting a 3 way buffer(from sally's, wal-mart, or cvs) and use all three sides to buff your nails back to that high shine, or purchase a really good glossy top coat, but remember if you do go the buffer route then just remember that you will need to do this everytime your hand hits water(that's what dulls them when they are only buffed)hth

When choosing a nail salon, what is the most important feature, besides cleanliness?

We are thinking of buying a nail salon business for a reasonable price and are thinking of ways to attract new customers. Any suggestions?

Diversity, specials, ability to converse with and understand the individual needs of each client.
