Obama Is Getting Gray Hair, Are You? eMaxHealth

Research suggest that one cause of gray hair is related to stress, which can cause the pigment cells (melanocytes) in the hair follicles to stop production of melanin, which is the substance that gives your hair its color. Hair melanin is either eumelanin (black or dark brown) or pheomelanin (red or yellow), and these two melanins combine in different ways to create each person’s hair color. Gray hair has lost most of its melanin, while white hair has lost all of it.

If you are experiencing a lot of stress associated with financial issues, problems with work, relationship challenges, or the added pressures imposed by the holiday season, it may contribute to graying hair. Some experts suggest that stress hormones, such as cortisol, may have an impact on the function of melanocytes, while others propose that gray hair is the result of free radical damage. Most experts tend to agree that genetics plays a role in hair graying.

A collaborative effort by investigators from Germany and the United Kingdom recently proposed that hair turns gray because the wear and tear of the hair follicles results in an accumulation of hydrogen peroxide. All hair cells produce hydrogen peroxide, and with age the amount increases. The hydrogen peroxide build-up blocks the normal production of melanin, and thus hair turns gray.

How do I find my natural hair color again?

For the past 3 years or so, I've been dying my hair every 2 or 3 months. Amazingly, my hair isn't damaged. Probably due to tons of deep conditioning. But Since June, I've been trying to get my hair back to the natural color. I've tried 3 or 4 different colors, but none of them match. They always look really close to my roots, but it's mainly cause my hair has ashy colors in it. Will I have to keep dying it to find the natural color again? Or what do I do? My hairs thinning out at the bottom. Help, please!
I don't want to have inches of roots either from not dying...

well you could let your hair grow out till its fully natrual hair colour is back or shave it all of but thats allway out of the question.
i also belive there are some treatments you can buy to take dye's out of your hair but i think they can b harsh if you have easily damaged hair but im sure with all the dye-ing your hair could manage it.

good luck -Ü

bye the way taking a multi-vitamin will help stengthen your hair and make it grow faster if thats the route you wanted to take

but no more hair dye [[it makes your hair die]]

oh no..you need to stop dying it then...those ends are going to break off...thats exactly what happened to me...just leave it alone and let the natural color grow back in...you can do it....thats exactly what i am doing.....slowly but surely....your hair will grow....no more dying..promise! :)

Stop dying it. And let it grow out. Eventually the color will be natural again.

just let your dye grow out. or just take it out

I had the same problem. I finally just let my natural hair color grow out. I would only use non permanent dye to blend the bottom color with my natural color,it never totally matches when you try to dye it your natural color though. Let it grow and keep trimming the dyed part off. Good luck

well i you dyed your hair nd had a rinse out color just wash your hair eventually it will fade and fade and ade then it will leave

i have had this problem a lot before. I had to let my hair grow out and get threw the embarrassing faze. i then cut it to where the natural stuff was all that was left. However if you do go to a colorist you should be able to get pretty darn close to your hair color.

How do I get my hair back to its natural color?

My natural hair color is medium brown. Last year, I went to my hair dresser and colored it red for a drastic change. Since then, I've used color out of a box and I've been back to my stylist once. I am trying to get it back to brown, but every color that I use or my stylist uses goes back to red after a few weeks.I don't want to keep coloring it every few weeks. She told me that the only way to get it back to its natural color is to bleach it and then color it. Is this the only way besides letting it grow and cutting it? My hair is pretty long and I don't want to cut it and it looks really bad letting it grow on its own. Is the bleaching and coloring something I can do on my own or should I go to a stylist? Is there anything that will just take all of the color out and take it back to its natural color? Thanks.

There are products that can remove color molecules, however, it can be very damaging to your hair. It sounds as though your stylist is using demi or semi-permanant hair color which will eventually fade. She/He may need to use something that will last longer if you are happy with the outcome of the color immediately after they have colored your hair. Red is one of those colors that is VERY difficult to cover or "bleach" out. My reccommendation would be to have a consultation with a very experienced colorist... might be worth paying the big bucks.

Good Luck!!!!

The bad thing about bleaching and coloring is that the color will fade too...so you will have to be very careful and keep on coloring it until your hair grows out long enough that the bleached part is gone...and please go to a stylist to get your hair bleached...

i had the same problem once and i bleached it first it turned out to be orange well and after 5 times bleached (i looked horrible) we got it down to yellow after that we put the brown color on it and it turned out to get this green shimmer not nice at all i wouldn't do it again

now i got it black

Sweetie? Your question hit home with me because I had exactly the same problem. I used that Loreal Feria and I looked like a stop sign. It took me dying it the darkest brown I could find to get it back to a very dark brown, which is my natural color. It has taken a few times and guess what, it is now a bit darker than my natural color but it sure is better than having all that red. Try the darkest brown you can find but first, go to your local hair place and have a deep conditioning done. It doesn't cost that much and your hair will feel so wonderful and it will be free of all the waxes, etc.....that we put on our hair every time we wash it with store bought shampoos. Then dye it the darkest brown you can find. I'm pretty sure the results will look awesome on you. I know you are very pretty because you care about your appearance enough to post on here and ask. Good luck Sweetie. I hope you take my advice and try it out. :)

You need to go to a more experienced stylist; you need restorative filler and then color. It will cost, but only way to guarentee natural color.

Wow sounds like your trying to acheive what i just did today with my stylist!!...i made the mistake of dying my hair really dark like 2 weeks ago, i freaked out and wanted my blonde back...first a hair dresser attemped just to put blonde highlights in it and that didn't go so well...but i found this amzing hair dresser that used this stuff on my hair that toned down the darkness in my hair...then she applied a semipermanent blonde color to my hair to tone down the darkness as well and also to take out some of the redness in the hair (the dark color i chose was an auburn/brownish color) and now my hair is pretty much back to my natural dirty blonde color with the highlights that the other hairdresser put in the week before! I will be going back in another week or two just to put more highlights in my hair (i want to be very blonde). You may need to call around a bit and even go into some places to speak with them and find out if they can help you...one place didn't think i could tone it down while the place i ended up going to was able to and it looks great now!
**Good luck, hope this was of some help!

How to remove color to get back to natural hair color?

My hair is naturally drab gray. I just started coloring my hair at home over the last 9 months (after having it professionally done for the last 20 years). I want the end result of my hair color to be golden brown. I do not touch up roots in between hair coloring. I do an overall color. Each time I colored my hair, I chose a color that wasn't quite light enough. I'm ready for another coloring. My roots are drab gray, the rest of my hair looks like one solid light brown color. Since I have been using different shades of golden brown each time I color, should I use a hair color remover first to get back to my natural color and then do an overall color of a very light golden brown/blonde? Or just color my hair with the very light golden brown. I do not have different colors in my hair now, but mentally I feel like I do because of the 4 different times I've colored with a different color. Help!!!

yes..If youre going from darker to lighter with about 4 different colors youll definately want to remove the color. They sell a product...its a powder and you mix it with a 20 volume liquid..you can buy the powder and possibly 20 vol at Walmart...The particular powder Im thinking of is called Un-color, but the other brands work just as well...its in a packet usually on the bottom shelf. Be careful using a lot of anything on the hair or it will become "mushy" and break off, especially if heat is applied. Good luck! *I have been a professional hairdresser for 16 years*

Coloring your hair changes the hair structure so using a hair color remover will NOT return your hair to its natural color. I don't understand why you aren't just touching up your roots as needed??? In any case, to lighten your hair you need to get highlights and use bleach-just using another lighter box of color will not lighten it over the existing color. In any case, you should see your stylist. Ask her the color she uses (like 7GB, 6RB) and use a box color for your roots in between salon visits.

When you use a "hair color remover" you remove all the color - even the natural color is gone. If no color was added, you would have a white hair. Do note that coloring too soon will give you a green shade.
Knowing that and knowing the last color you had, just move up 2 shades.

How to get my natural hair color back?

I had my stylist color my hair blonde, but I now want my natural color back to a dark brown, but with highlights on top. How do I get rid of the blonde in my hair and have the base color be my natural hair color and add to that blonde highlights? What is this process called?

just keep on applying coconut oil
in few months u will have ur natural color

i dont no what do say to you sorry

you can't take the dye out. you have to either let your hair grow out or dye it back to your natural color.

I dont think you can just get rid of the dye in your hair. Your hair was lightened. You should get brown highlights then. Its much simpler :]

Unless you want to dye your hair back to a brown then highlight it but that could damage your hair. Too much hair dye: not good.

How do I get my natural hair color back?

I have naturally dark brunette hair. Last year I highlighted it some caramel colors and such. I didn't go to drastic, but I did lighten it. Now, I have about 2 inches of regrowth and I dont like the look at all, and I have split ends from dying it. How do I do back to my natural color to make my hair healthy again?

um buy some dye, match it up with your roots, and buy a mosturizing conditioner/restorer (such as colersterol conditioner, ion color treated conditioner, fructis garnier restoring conditioning treatment)

You'll just have to wait until your natural hair grows back.

get 1 inch off to get rid of the split ends.

theres this product by loreal, you can get it at Rite Aid or something, it takes the color out.

Just stop dying it. If it doesn't wash out after some time, get a special shampoo.

If you don't want to have roots then you can find a semi permanent dye that matches your natural colour. When your hair starts growing in the roots won't be as noticeable because the dye will be fading at the same time.

Let it grow out without dyeing it again. Probably not the answer you want but its the only way. In the meantime, keep your ends trimmed to keep your hair healthy and while its growing out do a deep conditioning treatment each week to keep it soft. Protein is the building block for hair and nails so be sure to eat a lot. Hair glazes (no color) are great for restoring shine. Clariol makes one you can get at the drugstore.

With that much outgrowth you could go to a salon and they can match the color using your actual hair. That would be your best best instead of trying to do it at home. Especially if you want to keep your hair healthy.

die it.

wait until it grows back

you can either wait for it to grow out or you can find dye that matches you natural hair color and dye it one more time.
it cant damage your hair much more than it is now.
and then get you ends trimmed .

How do you remove color from your hair to get you natural color?

I got dark chunks put in my hair about 3 months agao. I have really blonde hair and now my roots are starting to show. How do I get the the dark chunks completely removed form my hair to show only my natural hair color?

Soak your hair in vinegar, then use a harsh shampoo. After that use natural instincts to dye the remainder to your natural hair color until your hair is naturally your natural hair color. if all else fails go to a salon. they can fix it there.

vinegar rinse

theres a tint that is called natural color...it matches your hair color almost so that you can let it grow out thats what i did

You'll have to go back to the hairdresser and have them re-dye the areas back to the natural color...at least it will look normal as it grows out.

Remember --- there is a reason its called PERMANENT color

Hi lilly. Try apple cider vinegar before shampooing. Also you may want to use a harsh shampoo like plain sauve for a bit. If you do this you also need to deep condition your hair afer a few days of this. It may not go away completly for a while, but this should really soften the color in about a week.

If the color is permanent, you have no choice but to have it bleached and then colored blonde. Have a specialist do it. Good luck.

to get the results you want, please see a professional hair stylist. they can remove the color and preserve the integrity of your hair. if you try it yourself, you will have damaged hair and breakage.

How can I get my natural hair color back?

I just died my hair a bright red. My natural color was really pretty, it was a strawberry-blonde but kinda orange and I miss it! So I was wondering if some how I could get my natural hair color back??

Try and find a die that matches your old hair colour, I have the same hair colour as you (strawberry blonde-orange), and i can never find the exact colour.

Hope this helps~~

yah, go to the hair dresser and ask to have it 'stripped'.

go to the salon and have em fix it.

answer mine please! click my name and go 2 questions and click my 1st question! thanks!

wait, just wait, two months later you will get your natural hair color back.

Do NOT as one previous poster said, go to a salon and asked to have your hair "stripped". Your hair will be trashed. Find a really good professional colorist. Technology has changed many things including hairdressing and there are products available to a professional that can undo hair color. But you need to ask as not every colorist uses these tools and there are certain circumstances (direct dyes or temporary colors) they won't work. Good luck!

in 1 or 2 month for the natural hair color to come back maybe longer cause it might have to grow new hair completely to get the same color as it was before or you can die it a new color till then

What is the best way to go back to your natural hair color?

I currently have brown hair with a lot of blonde high lights. it almost looks blonde. my natural color is a dark blonde almost light brown with natural blonde highlighted tints to it. whenever i dye my hair the other color always comes thru especially when i have highlights in my hair, like i do right now. ive been trying to go back to natural but i am having problems. anyone have any advise?

leave your hair as it is . let it grow naturally. twice in a week take scalp massage with wheatgerm oil. and in the morning wash with mild shampoo.

How to ease the transition back to your natural hair color?

I am naturally dark blonde, and have been dying it a few shades lighter.I hate the look of roots, but do want to go back to my natural color.Any suggestions on what to do during the in between stage? My hair is fairly short.

How can I get my hair back to my natural color???

My natural hair color is balck and since feb. 2006, I have been dying my hair an ash blonde with highlights. I got tired of seeing and paying for the regrowth, so last month I went darker to a medium brown. I wanted to go even darker, so I dyed my hair black (my natual color) with an at home kit. My problem is that my highlights or some of the medium brown has shown through my black hair. I made sure I dyed all of my hair. I want my hair to be all one color. To get back to my natural color should I:

a) Get a stripper and strip all the color from my hair

b) dye my hair black with another at home kit? (which kit is a good one?)

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!!

Neither!

Go to a SALON!

It's the safest way to get what you want.
