Women: How much did getting a short hair cut affect the amount of attention you got from men?

I'm thinking about getting my hair cut short in a year or so, and I was wondering if any of you ladies could tell me how that changed the way men reacted to seeing you.

I know that in general, men prefer long hair, but I was just curious as to how much it actually matters. I am 16 now, and I want to date around for a couple years, but when I start attending community college, I plan on focusing on finding a man to marry. (I am not having sex before I find the right person, and I've already done plenty of partying, so please don't say, "You're young. Don't worry about those things." )

So basically, I'm worried that getting a short haircut will significantly lower my attractiveness. I want to look as good as possible. Also, if I were to get my hair cut, say, chin length, about how long would it be in four years if I let it grow out?

Also, can you include your hair color at the time you had the hair style? Thanks.

Oh and please, please, PLEASE refrain from posting the comments about living for myself, and about how a real man doesn't care about the length of a woman's hair.

I'm asking this because I want a decent chance of attracting a wide selection of men. People ARE judged by their appearance first. :P

i'm getting my hair cut at 11:15 tomorrow and i want to get it cut really short (like a boy). i have a square face and i was wondering what a cute (but short) style would look good. links to pictures would be greatly appreciated!
just a side note: i already have fairly short hair, it's kinda like a shaggy surfer type look. so it can't be longer than ear length.

Hi, if you ask me, and you kind of did... so as a dinosaur from the past, who have seen all kind of styles come and go. I would have to say the best is the one you feel good having you know. As I am thinking like this you see, why change a winning formula? ha ha ha, just a joke there. Well here is my serious answer, I have always liked the look on Liza Minnelli, see Cabaret with her as the leading role and you see what I mean, other than that I will just say, do what you want, it is you who shall wear it right! lol. so be comfortable and don`t mind what others say. Military man have to shave and also have to get a short hair cut. Do police officers have the same obligation, short hair and shaved?

That depends on department policy. Some do have that requirement although it's less common today.

Why do I get in-grown hairs and bumps after I get a short hair cut?

It seems that after each hair cut, I get in-grown hairs and bumps after a week or so. My hair is cut very short on the sides and on the top. Could it be the shampoo I use?

who the hell cuts your hair i would go somewhere else to get a hair cut or change your cheap shampoo cheap skate.

I really love short hair cuts. I'm planning on getting one soon. but i still need to be able to pull it out of my face for basketball. I can wear a headband if I need, but I'm still lost?? Any suggestions?

If anyone has any tips on getting your hair to grow faster I'd appreciate it. My hair is so short and I don't like the length. Never had short hair. I was having a problem with breakage so I had to cut all the split and dead parts off so now I'm just waiting for it to grow out.

When it comes to hair growth, we've all been guilty of anxiously peering in the mirror everyday to see if we have made any progress, only to become frustrated with the fact that it takes a long time to regrow hair. Added to that is the frustration that comes along with not being able to style your hair during this stage. That is why many refer to hair regrowth as an “awkward stage.”

While hair growth is a slow process (locks normally grow about ½" per month), there are several things that you can do to make your transition to longer tresses smoother. No matter whether you want to add a few more inches or you are trying to grow your hair down your back, hair growth can be frustration free if you go about it in the right way.

The first thing that you need to realize if you are trying to regrow hair is that hair regrowth is a process, and in that process you will likely have to adapt to several different styles before you reach your ultimate hair growth goal. This means you will likely be spending more time at the salon during the hair growth process rather than away from it.

Since hair growth after different circumstances needs to be approached a bit differently, we're going to take a little time to look at how to regrow hair after a few of the main incidents that people normally want to promote quick hair regrowth.



HAIR SPLIT ENDS

This happens when the hair is exposed to extreme temperatures, not enough oil and lack of nourishment.

Tips 1:

Trim the ends regularly.

Tips 2:

Try not to use hair dryers and hot rollers very often.


Tips 3:

Mix 1 tspn of Castor oil and 1 tspn of Honey together.Apply well to the ends of hair and wash after ½ an hour.

Tips 4:

Take 1tspn of Castor oil, 1 tspn of Mustard oil, and 1 tspn of Olive oil. Mix well and apply on full length of hair, while massaging the scalp also. Cover the head with a hot towel.

Tips 5:

Take 1 tblspn of Almond oil with 1 egg yolk and1 tspn of Honey. Apply well on scalp and hair. Wash after ½ an hour.

I have a long face, not "omg shes a freak" long but its longer than average, and I cant find any short hair cuts(like above the chin short) that would look good on a long face. Pictures I could give to my stylist would be the most help :]

Long faces look good when there is fullness around the skinny part of the face. Anything with height or long hair will make your face look longer. I like Olivia Benson's hair, the character on Law and Order SVU.

I have long brown hair and kind of a long skinny face, and i want a hair cut, its layered and a little past my shoulders and I havent had one since August and I have no split ends. Also do guys like shorter hair?

I agree w/ the first answer. A bob would be really sleek.

FYI, bangs cut straight across will make your face look a little wider and balance out the length. Side swept bangs generally add length.
