Are you expected to tip for a spa gift package?

For my birthday, I got a gift card package with a facial, massage, and salt scrub at an expensive spa here in NY. I've heard that the tip is usually included in the purchase price of gift packages...it would add up to almost a hundred dollars if i were to tip myself, that seems weird for something that's supposed to be a gift. But I would hate to leave someone without their tip. So am I expected to tip the attendants or is it covered in the package price?

You should always leave some tip. But call the spa before you go and ask in advance. Then you can adjust the amount of the tip. Always remember that these are people who work in the service industy and the tipping is proper etiquette.

Rule of thumb :always tip.
GOD BLESS

Well, if there is a possibility that the tip is included, then you could call the spa and ask them to make sure.

I don't believe a gift card includes a tip, just like a gift card for a restaurant. Tips are to be given according to how good the service is. 15% -20% in the norm.
You could call and ask the spa if your not sure. E

Give what is hard to give and not what you are told to do or expected to do.

Regardless of a coupon, discount, gift card or gift certificate, you should always tip for services rendered -- tip in the amount you normally would depending on the quality of the services. The tip is not always in the gift card for spa packages -- I know they do not do it in the Spa where I perform Reiki....the gift certificate is simply for the service itself. I understand your point about the spa package being a gift -- but you still should provide a tip if you're happy with the services....just as you would do if you were paying for the entire bill yourself.

And have a great time at the spa!

Well I was in that situation and when I tried to tip they wouldn't let me and informed me everything was taken care of. Perhaps it depends on the place. You might call ahead just so you know their expectations and you don't slight anyone or have confusion.

Making a spa gift package for my boyfriend, what should I put in the basket?

I'm making my boyfriend a "spa" gift package to help him relax. I've included fragrant massage oil, a aromatic candle, a CD of calming music, and some bath salts. What else should I include?

how about some lavender body wash,a soft sponge, scented candles, some lavender bubbles, spread some rose peddles around in the basket for decoration, some tasty wine for relaxing, and maybe a bath pillow to rest his head on

Something I love is Lavendar and Chamomille bubble bath.. its so relaxing and smells heavenly!

Whatever else he likes!

one of them hand held massagers, not an electric one though, so that you can massage him w/ it. Maybe some bubbles for a bubble bath after.

lotion and towel and a wash cloth body spray what a a portable cd player to watch your favorite movie. and a re light

put sented lotion in there so when he is done with his bath you can give him a full body massage. I'm sure he will enjoy that plus will make a fun evening for the both of you.

Yoy should get you a GIRLfriend not a boyfriend.Which one do you like better big balls or big boobs!
Answer at Lopez1994@wal-mart connect.com

Well, I know when I like a spa bath I also like a nice wine and maybe some godiva chocolate to nibble on.

A towel
wash cloths
a loofah pad or a scrub brush
a massager

A loofah, maybe some bath salts. A salt scrub and a gift certificate written by you for one free massage (to go with the oil) A book he would love and maybe one of those pillows you can buy that can be warmed up in the microwave and used for relaxation.

A CONDOM AND SOME KY.....VERY HOTTT!

I'd give him two condoms, lube, a towel and a free pass to the local gay bathhouse. They'll do the rest. BTW does he have a nice basket?

Is a spa massage package a good gift for boyfriend?

It's my boyfriend's birthday next week. He's a wealthy jet-set businessman who never has time to relax. He loves getting back rubs from me, so I thought of getting him a professional full body massage at the most upscale spa in town.

Since I doubt he'd make the time to go to the spa alone, so I thought of booking a massage for the two of us followed by a night of romance. Is this a decent gift a guy like him would appreciate? Does anyone have any other ideas?

I think it sounds like a great idea. Don't listen to what the first guy says. There is a huge difference between the type of spa you are talking about and what he is referring to (the type of place ususally referred to as a 'massage parlor' ususally found next to the 'adult book store' lol.) Spas ususally have a professional team of certified massage therapists skilled in various techniques of massage and aromatherapy. I think you are right in making it a joint experience. He probably wouldn't make the time to go by himself, but would probably love the idea of going with you and then enjoying a nice romantic evening afterward. Good luck and have fun. I don't know if you have ever treated yourself to a professional massage before. If not, let me tell you that you will love it. I made time to get one during mine and my husband's honeymoon and it was a wonderful experience. I am sure the two of you will enjoy it very much.

not really, cuz they are scams/excuses for adults to usually get more than a massage. It will cost them, but it is really a cover for illegitimate sex,as most of the girls who work these places offer massage as a cover, but deep down they want to drain your wallet, and drain you of your sexual desires.

It would be a great gift i think, espically if your both going to go,and if its a good spa place the chances of offering extras are nil.nice idea chick

its a great idea. i am a massage therapist and our spa has recently renovated to add a couple's room, and it stays booked ALL THE TIME!!! MANY men will not take time to go on their own, so doing it together is a great way to get him there and enjoying it together. Just do your homework and research spas in the area to find a nice legitimate one. Sadly there are several 'bad' places out there.

How do you package and ship a gift basket?

I'd like to put together a gift basket filled with toiletries, spa supplies, and other things. How do I package the gift basket properly so that I don't have things falling out of the basket and moving around when it's shipped to its destination?

First of all, you don't want things in the basket shifting around while in shipment. To keep things in their place, use styrofoam or floral foam to act as spacers and you can even push the edges of some items into the foam so that it stays put better. To hide the foam, cover it with dried moss of whatever color you like, or even thin shreds of colored paper. Many products are available to use for that purpose. You can use staples to hold the moss or paper to the foam. Also, try to use baskets without handles since the handles can get in the way when you go to shrink wrap your basket. Ideally, you want the shrink wrap to go directly over the items in the basket rather than over a handle. It works better that way. Use as much of the shrink wrap as is necessary, heavy items may need more than light items. Finally, ship in a box that has plenty of room on all sides so that packing peanuts will completely surround the basket. After all, if you're going to work that hard on a nice gift basket, you want to make sure its well protected. Have fun making your baskets!

Wrap it in ceranwrap that activate with heat like a blow dryer. When shipping the item use lots a peanuts; u know the white foamy things. They sell this at Staples, Office Depot or shipping places.

Baskets look nice, but if you're shipping it perhaps a gift box would work better... you can use ConTac paper, gift wrap, decals, paint, whatever to make a nice looking box, pack the items securely in that box, then put the finished gift box in a shipping box. Maybe not the same impact as a basket but can still look nice and greatly simplifies the packing issues.

I'm sure these are good ideas, but take it to the UPS store or similar. It's what they do. They'll correct whatever needs to be done.

One needs to seal it tightly with "Shrink Wrap". It seals it where nothing can move at all. One can buy the heat sensitive plastic wrap at most any craft place or party place. Wrap the entire basket with items well displayed, bringing the edges all up at the top, tightly in your hand, while using a blow-dryer to heat the wrap and basically "shrinking it to fit". You'd think it will melt, but it won't. It just "shrinks" the wrap to a tight fit. Then one needs a really sturdy box to pack it in, with plenty of room around the gift "basket", so there's plent of room for packing materials to go completely around it. One can use tissue paper, wads of colored paper, styrofoam "peanuts", or whatever, but it has to be packed really tightly, because usually the heaviness of the gift basket must be supported by the packing materials. One can do this yourself for a lot less money than paying UPS or a service to do do it, because they charge double, triple or quadruple the cost of supplies just to wrap and mail it.

i have done this and i roll tape to keep items in place in the basket. i tape one item to another you cant see the tape . then seal it with the basket wrap. you will need lits of bubble wrap and peantus to fill the box too.

When do I tip for a mutli treatment spa package?

I have a gift certificate for multiple treatments at a spa (massage, facial etc...)

Do I tip each person seperately after the service or do I tip one person at the end. How does that work?

That is a tough one. I would say tip each person seperately. But the issue is you may be in a robe and not have money accessible.

I need the phone number of a spa or nail salon in San Antonio, TX that I can buy a gift package over the phone

with a credit card from and have it sent to my mom for her birthday. Thank you so much for the help.

http://www.spawish.com/

This site allows you to purchase gift certificates for spas all across the country and send them to whomever you like. They list four spas in San Antonio, two that have their own websites, two that don't.

I've been searching for this myself as I have a friend in San Antonio. This place seems pretty nice from their website http://www.isabellesdayspa.com/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi

But just do a search for San Antonio Day Spa and you'll get several that come up. Most of them will allow you to purchase a package over the phone or online.

Good luck!

What is a Sweedish massage and how does it differ from other massages?

I am about to get one for my first time! And am I supposed to tip them? I got this as part of a spa gift package. What else do I need to know, like attire, things like that.

Swedish massage is the fundamental and basic full-body relaxation massage routine that the majority of trained therapists learn. It is a great way to begin massage work with people, which is why it is taught in the majority of massage schools, and is often a standard requirement for credentialing. From that point a therapist may choose to learn and develop other styles of massage including deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, accupressure, shiatsu, myofascial release, sports massage, medical massage, and of course the plethora of spa treatments and/or energy-based work (Reiki, Polarity). Each of the other approaches, along with different techniques, often have a slightly different theory, trying to accomplish different results.

For your visit attire should be comfortable and casual. If you do not have a chance to shower after the massage, you will be leaving with oil and/or lotion still on your skin. Most spas welcome tips for their therapists but don't feel obligated to it. $5-$10 might be appropriate depending on the services you receive in your spa package. You may be asked to remove all of your clothing for the massage and it is fine if you choose to do that. In the majority of swedish massage sessions, the therapist will leave the room, allow you to undress and position yourself on the massage table, covering yourself with either a sheet or towel. About 20 minutes into the session (if you don't talk or fidget around too much) you should feel yourself letting go of tension as you relax further into the table. If you feel like falling asleep, go ahead. The therapist will wake you up when you are finished.

Welcome to the world of massage.... :)

Meatballs, oooh, the meatballs!

It's a style that utilizes long flowing strokes. There are 6 strokes: 1)effleurage from the French effleurer, 'to skim over', 2)petrissage from the French pétrir, 'to knead',3) friction, 4)tapotement, 5)compression, and 6)vibration. Yes you should tip, but check to see if your gift package includes the tip 1st. Wear whatever is comfortable and before the message starts, strip down only to your comfort level.

sweedish massage is a tecnique that uses less pressure and is more relaxing than other types of massage. if you have knots, they will slowly be released by working around the area- rather than working the area layer by layer on a deep tissue massage.

i would tip them whatever you r used to tipping your hair dresser.

as far as attire, wear something confortable and easy to remove. when you get there you will most likely remove everything expect your underwear

How much should I tip at the spa?

I'm using a gift certificate my boyfriend gave me for a spa package. I'll be having three different treatments. How much should I tip each person?

It depends. Generally 10-20% is considered acceptable depending upon how good the service was and how nice the establishment is.

I own a salon, with IC and booth rentals. We offer gift cards, how do I distribute the cash at the end?

We sell the gift cards as an all day spa package. How do I divide the money when the client redeems them? Does anyone have policys for this?

When the gift cards are purchased, the funds go into a separate income account. The funds stay there until the gift cards are redeemed. At the time they are redeemed, the service providers receive their portion on a percentage basis of the total cost that they provided. If the gift cards are for fixed services, then the participating service providers should agree in advance on what they will charge for the service.

What is the normal tip to give someone doing a skin analysis/facial?

I recieved a spa package as a gift consisting of a skin analysis, mini-facial, eyebrow wax, and product prescription for the first visit, Cleansing Treatment, exfoliation treatment, face, neck, and decollete massage for the second visit, and a Follu-up Skin Care COnsultation, Facial Cleanse, revitalizing eye treatment, neck firming treatment, facial neck and decollete massage, and a Hydrating facial mist treatment for the third visit. What should I tip the person when they're finished? Should I tip differently every visit, since the treatments get much more extensive each time, or should I tip the same everytime?

In the USA, services are tipped from 10%-20%. Tipping is not mandatory, so you don't have to tip at all, but take into consideration that the clinicians earn most of their salary from tips. Keeping that in mind, a provider of personal services should do their best to provide excellent care for you, so always tip someone based on their performance, not on a suggested percentile. Good Luck and Enjoy !
